Tomoko Okazaki - Japan Marketing and Sales Liason, and, Nature and Ocean Sports Tour Coordinator. Tomoko is our Japanese translator, and our liason for Japanese retreaters at Kolealea. She is heavily involved with our marketing effort in Japan. She also hosts nature tours involving walking and hiking into beautiful awe-inspiring spots known only to the local people, and she hosts ocean sports tours. Tomoko was hooked on windsurfing in her home town Kamakura Japan and came to Maui to pursue her passion in the world class waves, and competed full time in the 90’s, and had many achievements in world cups. In addition to other sports, she now has a new love which seems to take up most of her time: Kitesurfing. Edging and jumping, and riding waves like windsurfing , kitesurfing is a great combination of all the sports she loves. No matter what tools she is using, the lifestyle never changes; constantly on the road, searching for unknown good spots and writing stories, getting inspiration from all the people she meets. There are many countries and places she has traveled , but her preference are the places where nature takes charge over humans, being remote and challenging to get to, locals who are open with big hearts. She started Sakura camp with 2 other women 10 years ago to bring more girls into wavesailingr. Almost every pro and top amature wavesailor is involved in this camp and it has created a strong bonding between the women sailors and inspired pursuing their passion. Tomoko is organizing yoga retreats in hopes of giving oppotunity to Japanese women to practice yoga in the beautiful nature of Maui, getting away from the stress and busy life in Japan and finding a peace of mind inside. |
